Children's piano lessons

Children's Piano Lessons in Buckhurst Hill & Woodford Green

Individual piano tuition for children, taught personally and with full attention on your child throughout the lesson.

The aim is a secure, well-rounded musical education: reading music confidently, playing with good technique, listening carefully, and developing the independence to keep learning between lessons.

A thorough musical foundation

Lessons are adapted to your child's age, current level, learning style and goals. Young beginners start with short, clearly structured activities; more experienced students work on longer pieces, technical study and musical interpretation.

  • Reading notation accurately and fluently in both hands
  • Rhythm, pulse and counting
  • Piano technique appropriate to age and physical development
  • Musicianship: listening, aural awareness and expressive playing
  • Music theory alongside practical playing, so the two support each other
  • Repertoire chosen to develop skills and hold a child's interest
  • Steady, measured progression with clear practice guidance
  • Musical independence — the ability to learn a new piece unaided

Examinations, if they suit

Graded examination preparation, including ABRSM practical and theory, is available where it is useful for a particular student. It is never a requirement: many children make excellent progress through repertoire and musicianship alone. We can discuss what would genuinely benefit your child rather than following a fixed route.

Working with parents

Parents are welcome to ask questions about practice and progress. Short, regular practice supported at home makes a considerable difference, and I will always be clear about what has been set and why.

Limited daytime and after-school availability. Please enquire for current lesson times.

Home visits are subject to location and travel time. Your requested time will be personally confirmed before the lesson is booked.

What Young Students Say

Dzvina has worked with me since I was a beginner, and I am now working towards Grade 8. I can’t believe how far I’ve come!

Amelia

I enjoy my lessons with Dzvina every week. It’s a treat to learn pieces at my own pace and have termly concerts to look forward to.

Ruchi

I love playing the piano after school. Even when it gets hard, Dzvina motivates me with new challenges. I’m working towards Grade 4 now.
