Music tuition

GCSE & A-Level Music Tuition

Individual support for students studying music at GCSE or A-Level, working on the parts of the course that are hardest to master alone: harmony, analysis, listening and composition.

GCSE music

  • Music theory underpinning the course
  • Musical analysis of set works and unfamiliar music
  • Listening skills and examination listening technique
  • Composition development and constructive feedback
  • Revision planning and consolidation
  • Examination preparation
  • Support understanding course material

A-Level music

  • Advanced theory
  • Harmony, including part writing and stylistic exercises
  • Analysis of works and styles
  • Score reading
  • Composition
  • Broader musical understanding and context
  • Revision and examination preparation

Academic integrity

Support is always given through teaching and feedback. I do not write or complete assessed GCSE, A-Level or other coursework, including compositions submitted for assessment. The work remains the student's own, and my role is to help them understand it and improve it themselves.

Course requirements vary between examination boards and centres. Bring your specification, set works and any teacher feedback to the first lesson so that sessions can be planned around exactly what your course requires.
